From the Word…

Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.

(1 Corinthians 9:24-25 New Revised Standard Version)

If you have any news or events to go in Anglican e-Life, please email them to communications@anglicanlife.org.nz. 100 words or less preferred.

ALSO, this document will be uploaded to www.anglicanlife.org.nz at the same time that the email is distributed. We hope that this will make it easier for some people to access the information that occasionally becomes garbled in the translation from one computer system to another.

Saturday, 18 February, St Andrews Church, 148 Main Rd, Redcliffs

Registration at 9.00am, for 9.30 - 5.00pm

The word addictive comes from the Latin word addictus (meaning slave), which is the total opposite of the freedom which is available through Jesus. While not everyone suffers from addiction, most if not all of us can identify things in our lives which take up more time than we would like and over which we have less control than we would like. Whatever area you might struggle to control (for example; drinking, shopping, TV watching, computer use, gambling, eating, drug use), this seminar provides a biblically based understanding of addictive behaviours and a Christ centred way of dealing with them. Some individual ministry will be available.

Presenters: Paul & Jillian Larsen-Robertson, Directors of Ellel Ministries Aotearoa New Zealand.

Cost: $50 (tea and coffee provided, bring lunch to share) – reduced rates available

For more information contact Paul or Jillian at info.newzealand@ellelministries.org or 0212-698-384
