A warm welcome is in store for all visitors to the Timaru Christian Bookshop awarded the Christian Bookshop Association trophy for best small Christian bookshop in New Zealand for 2009.

Although the bookshop is non-denominational it has a long association with the Anglican Church which was involved in the inception of the Trust Board 27 years ago. This continues with Manager, Stuart McKnight and volunteer Judy Standeven, both Anglicans of St John’s Anglican Church, Highfield Parish in Timaru.

The shop staffed by eight volunteers enjoys welcoming customers, often by their first names and gives old-fashioned service. This extends to browsing catalogues and ordering goods to satisfy preferences. Stuart is proud of the award which recognises the relationship with distributors, window display, layout, stock knowledge and a visit from a mystery shopper.
